I hope that this review will help prevent other people from experiencing the destruction that we did with the V. Pavao Landscaping company. After about two years of poor lawn care involving bald patches, burned edging, the wipeout of an heirloom herb garden and damage to a grapevine, this episode was beyond imaginable.

In our backyard stands a weeping cherry tree that was planted when the house was built in 1961. It stands approximately 25 feet tall and has a 30 foot diameter. Through many years of cultivation and nurturing this tree has become feature of the neighborhood as well as our yard. Its' spectacular springtime bloom is a thing of beauty that causes traffic to slow as it passes. It provides the comfort of shade and is especially valued for the privacy it affords our yard in our closely packed development. This year it was at its peak and particularly well formed with excellent coverage and we enjoyed our patio much more because of it.

As I was working in my home office I heard the sound of the lawn being mowed. It lasted about ten minutes as usual then was gone. A couple of hours later I heard more noise from what I thought was a leaf blower and thought they had returned to complete the job. The noise lasted another ten minutes or so then stopped. A short while later I was called to the backyard to see what had happened. I found that the second noise I heard was the lawn crew trimming the majestic tree. They had butchered the limbs and removed all of the long trailing branches. This removed all of the privacy, comfort and beauty that the tree provided. Furthermore, the sloppy and incorrect technique has placed the tree in danger of being lost. So much of the greenery was removed that the remaining fronds may not support the needs of its massive trunk. It may not recover from this damage. If it does survive, it will take approximately 6 to 8 years to develop the coverage that was lost.

When I called the owner, Vinnie, he denied any knowledge of the work but made several comments that clearly showed that he wasn't being truthful. He came to the yard the following day to assess the damage and was all apologetic but when pressed he simply shrugged his shoulders and said it was cut and there was nothing that could be done. He said he spoke to the crew and they said that the long trailing fronds would rub them on the face and shoulders when they mowed the lawn and so they decided to cut the tree to prevent that. He then left without any effort to assume responsibility for the destruction by his crew.

Now we will have to hire a licensed arborist to inspect the damage and hopefully preserve the health of the tree. The butchering left stubs which, if they are not corrected, will result in disease that will lead to the death of the tree. All of the privacy of our patio is gone. We cannot sit out there without the constant reminder of the destruction which makes us unable to relax and enjoy our property as we had previously done. My neighbor was crying when she asked what had happened to the beautiful tree. She has many pictures that she's taken of the beauty and privacy that the tree afforded her yard as well as ours. And to think that all of this could have been avoided if they had just rang the doorbell to ask permission. And to be distinctly clear, no authorization was ever given to perform anything more than just mowing the lawn.

At this time we are still evaluating our options regarding legal action but nothing will repair or replace the damage that was done by this disrespectful, ignorant and dangerous landscaping company. Beware.
